falling in love again

mu'blog - mu'blog social commentary

I wrote this song a few months after I got into Singapore. It was immediately received and interpreted as a love song :) and actually that is what it is but the relationship is between man and his environment... though i must say this seemed to be lost on most listeners. :)

we want our future back

mu'blog - mu'blog social commentary

The old guard refusing to let go fo the reigns. Under different guises, they find a a reason to stay on, handing power over one to another, no change really. The new generation, fully capable of making their own mistakes but also fully capable of taking the world to the next level are not given the opportunity. In the business world, change of guards is critical to continued success. Succession planning focusing on ensuring there is a ready pool of generational leaders ready to take over when the current generation can no longer play the role. But in politics, that seems like a distant dream. That requires a long term view which most politicians can't really commit to given the 'termed' nature of the 'opportunity' they've been given by being elected or by managing to get themselves into the position.... the story is old but the pain and lost dreams should never be forgotten.

where is salvation

mu'blog - mu'blog social commentary

If you've ever lived in a war zone or a place where any kind of battle was being fought, the one thing that you quickly realise is that every moment, any moment you or the person in front of you, or your neighbour or that guy that sells vegetables, anyone of you could be enjoying your last breath. NIght time screams following bomb blasts ro gun fire are your lullaby, weeping parents, siblings or friends is your wake up call in the morning and dead bodies waiting to be harvested for mass graves are yoru fields of gold. Where is the salvation? Where is the help that was promised?

we are dying

mu'blog - mu'blog social commentary

The actions of a few destroying the future of an entire population. Selfish leaders who fail to distinguish between the office and themselves, failed and corrupt governments, self-centered crusaders, the list goes on but the end result is always the same, helpless people with no voice or hope of every having one. Children with no hope of becoming adults, adults with no hope of ever having children. Actions that elevate one life while condemning the lives of millions.

21st century slavery

mu'blog - mu'blog social commentary

It is a known fact that slavery existing beyond physical bondage. Intellectual slavery, freedom of choice, financial slavery, all these are just examples of other ways a person could be held bondage and freedom taking away. What is interesting is that a lot of people are actually slaves and don't realise it. Slaves to their lifestyle, slaves to the media, slaves to their financial institutions, slaves to their bosses or jobs, and the list goes on... the greatest achievement of slavery in the 21st century is to intelligently mask itself such that the slave celebrates the 'privilege' to be a slave rather than fight it!
